Head Equities Trader
Nathan is a fourth-year student at UC San Diego majoring in International Studies- Political Science with a minor in Business. Nathan focuses mostly on In-Play stocks, meaning stocks with a news catalyst. In the summer, he interned at a Tier 1 proprietary trading desk in New York, SMB Capital. Nathan has received a full-time offer to join SMB’s trading desk upon graduation. The dream was to become a professional trader, and that has now become reality!
Zhiyao Li

Zhiyao is a fourth year student at UC San Diego, majoring in Business Psychology and minoring in Economics. He has a passion for the Chinese and the U.S. stock markets. He is actively managing his personal portfolio and currently sits at about 5% YTD growth. Zhiyao is also an active member of the UCSD Undergraduate Investment Society and CFA Institute Research Challenge. In his free time, Zhiyao enjoys reading books (Criminology, Behavior Psychology...) and loves drinking coffee and making food.
Jay Ong

Options Trader
Jay is a junior, majoring in Economics and minoring in Accounting. He has a few years of experience investing in the Australian Stock Market specializing in Lithium Companies and day & swing trades options in the United States. Jay hopes to educate students on the proper techniques when trading in the market. Jay secured a partnership with Trendspider, a top tier charting platform his second quarter on exec.
Allison Huang
Vice President
Allison Huang is a Junior majoring in International Business and minoring in Real Estate & Development. Her interest lies in option trading and marketing. Allison is also an active member in Undergraduate Investment Society and Women In Business. During summer, she worked as a summer merchandising intern at eBay. In her free time, Allison likes to read books and draw. Her goal is to expand her knowledge in trading and put her knowledge of marketing into good use.
Nicolas Tobon

As a current undergraduate student at University of California - SaDiego, Nicolas is actively pursuing a transfer position into the Mechanical Engineering degree program. Nicolas has traded equities for over a year and a half and has executed successful trades in various contexts and setups. My experience as a trader has only just begun, and I hope to expand my knowledge in trading strategy, trading psychology, and options markets alongside fellow aspiring traders in UTS. Nico was the first to develop UTS’s Weekly Newsletter.
William Gibbons

William Gibbons is a Sophomore who has wanted to be a trader or investor since he was eight years old. He is an avid reader of investment and economics books, his favorites being Understanding and Trading Listed Stock Options by Carl F. Luft and Richard K. Sheiner and A Capitalism for the People by Luigi Zingales. His career aspirations are to work at any investment or trading vehicle which will allow his personal strengths to shine. As a former track and cross country runner, he understands how important it is to have a long-term view of personal and professional growth and hopes to impart this knowledge to everyone in the Undergraduate Trading Society.
Jonathan Alvarado

Jonathan is a UC San Diego alumni. He transferred from East Los Angeles Angeles college where he obtained an Associates of Science degree in Business Administration. Jonathan is currently a full-time employee at AT&T’s B2B sales development program. Jonathan has been day trading equities for a little over 4 years now and has since moved to trade naked options. His current strategy is trading the trend, breakout patterns, and Momentum. Jonathan is now employed full-time at a proprietary trading desk in Manhattan.
